Workshops for creative journaling are all about gathering hungry people to show them how to eat of the banquet prepared for us in the presence of our enemies as described in Psalm 23:5. The first step up to the table is to open one’s eyes and spirit to the very personal language of sight -- visual language.
Priscilla Williams can help you take this first step! She offers retreats and workshops to help you begin your own visual language.

About Priscilla's Retreat Ministry
Whether many or a few are gathered, these retreats are adapted to wherever the attendees are on their journey closer to God.
These are times set aside to increase the listening skills, that is, learning to listen more attentively to one’s own heart, others’ hearts, and God’s heart. Deeper connections with self, God, and others are made.
In these experiences we:
- increase visual-hearing skills
- learn from others’ observations and perceptions of visual encounters
- enter into an appreciation for and a freedom in child-like discovery
- encounter God in a fresh new way and become released into His creativity
- experience the unity of the Body of Christ as all become humbled to child-like status, jointly undertaking the adventure into God’s heart
- learn to respect and cherish our uniqueness
- worship with grateful celebration
- become encouraged, strengthened, healed, and deeply inspired
The retreats offer opportunity to enter into the revelatory paintings and have richer encounters with God and deeper connections with others.
God speaks primarily through visual and non-verbal revelation. So much of Scripture is describing visions given by God. The first step toward the banquet table then is realizing the power of the visual language and how it can enhance relationship with God, self, others, and our world. The next step toward the banquet table is to see how it works, and so I share samples from my own journal.
The next step is to sit at the table like a little child. Workshop participants are given a passage of Scripture to meditate on and various mediums to work with. Then they can express the picture that comes to them through their meditation. After the opportunity to build an image, participants are encouraged to be still and listen to what God wants to say through what they have just done.
We then move into the celebration of these revelations. The participants can share what they discovered if they choose to. This sharing helps to integrate the verbal and the visual — thereby expanding the meaning.
This experience usually results in deeper bonding between participants. They see themselves in each other. Those who never thought any visual would ever come and some who are certain they would never share what came to them get surprised as they get caught up like a child.
The participants by then have taken some major steps into learning how to eat at the Lord’s table set in the presence of enemies such as fear, scoffing, disbelief, resistance to child-likeness, criticism, and the need to always be in control. These workshops encourage people as they seek after a deeper, more creative relationship with God, self, and others.
